Spokane Regional 5-for-5 Ski Deal

So I might be jumping ahead, but ski season is just around the corner and I have to say that I'm stoked!  Why?  Because this is the year I go 5-for-5.  That's right; I'm going to hit all five Spokane Region ski resorts this year.   For those of you counting that's Schweitzer Mountain Resort, Mt. Spokane Ski & Snowboard Park, 49˚ North, Silver Mountain Resort and Lookout Pass.  That's five different steeps, five different terrains and five different experiences.  And I will get to shred them all.  Which begs me to ask:  What's your favorite Spokane Region ski area?

I've got to admit Schweitzer is in a class of its own. It's got great steeps and glades, and more terrain than any of the other hills. However, I can't tear myself away from 49 Degrees North. With the addition of their new quad and the terrain that it has opened up, 49 features a sweet variety of runs. Plus, it's a little easier on the pocket book!

Attention skiers and boarders! The Spokane Region is once again getting hit hard with sweet snow. What does that mean for you? Tons of fresh powder turns! Lookout Pass has received 27", Silver Mountain has racked up 24", Schweitzer has piled up 18", 49 Degrees North is reporting 8" and Mt. Spokane is checking in with 9" of their own. Get off your butt, get out your boards and planks and hit the slopes of the Northwest Rockies!

I finished my 5-for-5 this past weekend! And man did I finish it off in style at Lookout Pass. To be completely honest, I had low expectations as I headed to Lookout. I'd heard it was small, the lifts were slow, etc. But let me tell you what - Lookout Pass is a gem! True, it's not that large, but it offers great terrain for every level of skiier. We skied the majority of the day on the north side with some quick trips to the Montana side and to the Idaho side. Oh, and you know how they claim to be the "#1 Powder Place"? It's true! The snow was amazing. We shreded nearly knee deep powder all day. And it was THE BEST snow I've skied in the Inland Northwest all year! All I got to say is good steeps + great snow = the perfect day. For the best powder run, hit up the Lucky Friday Glades on the Idaho side of the mountain. You won't regret it. www.skilookout.com
