Spokane Arts Announces New Executive Director

Spokane Arts is delighted to announce the hire of a new Executive Director, Laura Becker.

Most recently, Laura managed 1% for Art projects for the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) and the Office of Arts & Culture, serving as a consulting artist, designer and project manager. Laura has been a champion for arts and culture over the last decade, balancing leadership roles in both public arts administration and non-profit management.

"Laura brings a wealth of knowledge, strong leadership skills and a deep passion for the arts," said Brooke Kiener, Spokane Arts Board Chair. "We know she will help us amplify Spokane as the arts and culture hub of the Inland Northwest."

Managing arts programs and events in the Seattle area since 2001, Laura has a vast amount of experience in community engagement and arts participation. Originally from Spokane, Laura is a practicing artist, independent curator and producer of arts events.

"I'm absolutely thrilled to return to Spokane and continue the work of defining the region as a cultural destination with a strong identity around the arts," said Laura. "Spokane has an incredible creative capacity and a very supportive and tight-knit arts community. I want to focus on cultivating Spokane talent while providing new and bold arts experiences for locals and visitors alike."

Spokane Arts works to amplify Spokane as the cultural hub and catalyst for the Inland Northwest through arts leadership, advocacy, networking and support. Spokane Arts is a partnership between the Spokane Arts Commission and the Spokane Arts Fund - the private, non-profit arts agency created in 2013.
