Happy Hour Makes Me Happy

For me, happy hour is a lifesaver.  It's a way to be social, but not blow the bank.  And it's a way to check out the new digs on the scene without committing to a whole night out.  In a way happy hour is like speed dating.  Stay with me now, I can explain.  But you should also know that I've never actually been speed dating.  My knowledge of speed dating comes exclusively from American cinema, most noticeably the movie Hitch.  Nonetheless, here we go . . .

First, both are timed.  One never lasts long enough, the other . . . I guess it just depends on the person.

Second, both are inexpensive.  At least I hope you're not dropping tons of money . . . geez, you just met!

Third, you turn to both when you're at your whit's end.  One, with work; the other, with traditional dating.

Believe me, I could go on.  But I'd rather share some of my favorite Spokane happy hours.

Cyrus O'Leary's:  Buy a drink and get free hot wings every Friday night.  That's right, FREE hot wings!

Catacombs:  Well drink specials.  Every Monday, small three topping pizza with mozzarella and red sauce only $5 from 5-6 pm.

Rain Lounge:  Every Wednesday is half-price bottles of wine.

Steam Plant Grill:  Coeur d'Alene Brewing Co. pints for only $2.50, plus $5 cocktails.

Until next time - keep a smile on your face.  After all, it's happy hour somewhere!  Speaking of, who hosts your favorite Spokane happy hour?

How about this? "Happy Hour Rafting"...a company called the ROW Adventure Center is doing "Happy Hour Rafting" on the Spokane River this summer. Obviously not a time or place to get too out of control, but it should be fun for people in the area and pretty creative!

Check it out--<a href="http://www.rowadventurecenter.com/Spokane-Rafting.html">Happy Hour Rafting</a> with the ROW Adventure Center!

www.BuzzinClubbin.com has a directory of happy hour specials and times just under the days list of events. Personally I'm partial to Zola's $5 happy hour menu.

Good one SimplyComlexSpokanite! I can't believe I forgot about that one. I usually hit up Aqua every Friday after work. If my memory serves me correctly you can get dynamite sushi rolls for only $5! If that doesn't make you happy I don't know what will. However, be prepared to wait for your deliciousness, sometimes the service is a bit slow.

Aqua Asian Bistro has a great happy hour... I can't remember the deals off the top of my head, but when I went there last with some of my favorite coworkers, we gorged ourselves on beer and sushi for a steal. I wouldn't recommend it for the social scene unless you plan to bring it WITH you, since on the occasions I've been in during the "happy times," it has been next to empty.

And regarding your speed dating analogy... remember what George Bernard Shaw says: "There is no love sincerer than the love of food."
