RV Camping Excursion to Spokane, WA

Haven't yet taken an RV camping excursion to Spokane, Washington? This Eastern Washington city, just twenty miles from the Idaho border and only about a hundred miles south of Canada, has a personality unique in Northwest cities. Here's a quick glimpse from an RV traveler's perspective of all there is to discover in Spokane.

Rolling through the streets of Spokane, RV'ers will notice the bold cultural heritage of its historic neighborhoods. With more than half of Spokane's downtown area recognized by the National Historic Register, you'll want to put on your walking shoes and explore the architectural charm of The Lilac City.

Once that whets your appetite for scenic beauty, why not cruise the Spokane City Drive mapped by the Spokane Regional Convention and Visitors' Bureau? Along the way, you'll be treated to such treasures as Riverfront Park (don't miss the carousel and spectacular Spokane Falls!), a century-old Flour Mill now home to shops, eateries and plenty of historic charm, and a wealth of notable homes, churches and other reasons to stop and be completely fascinated by beauty and history.

While in Spokane, you'll also be instantly aware of the lush, green landscapes that surround all that history. Not content to be bordered by outstanding outdoor recreation venues, this city has worked hard to retain the verdant ambience of the Inland Northwest. The picturesque Spokane River flows right through the city, creating a vibrant river corridor.

We'd be remiss in sharing our reflections of Spokane with fellow RV travelers if we didn't mention the Native American influences evident everywhere. The Spokane (Children of the Sun) Tribe of Indians has been a vital force within the Spokane Valley since before the days of their most revered chief, Chief Spokane Garry.

But we're RV campers, and that means we love being in the great outdoors! There's no better place to be! No matter what season you park your RV in Spokane, there's something active waiting to be done. Bike trails, hiking trails, skate parks and an amazing number of golf courses are just a few of the ways to soak up the splendor of the Spokane area.

Don't miss the Spokane Centennial Trail, a thirty-seven mile excursion from Idaho to Nine Mile Falls, WA. Where else can you find a hiking/biking/skating trail that takes you through forests, cityscapes and unforgettable mountain vistas? Or experience one of five nearby ski areas, paddle the whitewater of an area river or hike the trails in Mount Spokane State Park. If being in the beauty of nature is your goal, there's a way to do it actively near Spokane.

And when it's time to rest those weary muscles and download dozens of great vacation photos, park your RV in a scenic and welcoming Spokane RV campground. Trailers Inn RV Park, for example, offers very affordable campsites featuring free wireless and cable. Riverside State Park also features riverfront campsites and a view that can't be beat.

RV adventurers, it's time for an RV excursion to Spokane! Come for the scenery and fall in love with the historic charm of this riverfront city. It's one more place you'll put on your "must go back there soon" list of vacation gems.
