Inlander Restaurant Week is an exciting time for me. As a former chef, good food is fun to discover and this event is a great opportunity to experience different establishments at a reasonable price. So far this week I have eaten at Webster's Saloon, Longhorn BBQ and Manito Tap House. I hope to go to Casper Fry too!
Webster's Ranch House Saloon is a "Cheers" like neighborhood bar with obvious regulars. It has a happy energy that is very enjoyable. The steamed clams appetizer was a huge pound of clams and were very satisfying. My companion had bacon and cheese stuffed jalapenos battered and deep fried which hadn't been on the published menu. Those were amazing! The best part of both of our meals. They didn't have their published dessert options available but we did enjoy a chocolate cheesecake and berry cobbler.
After seeing a bit on the news about the Longhorn BBQ's chicken and waffle, we knew we had to give it a try. Total wonderfulness! I couldn't help but remember that when I first heard about chicken and waffles several years ago it sounded awful. But, oh no! Total wonderfulness! We ate it so fast I didn't get a picture of it! I think the cornmeal in the waffle mix could have been a bit more prevalent but overall I'd do it again.
Manito Tap House was a busy place that did not take reservations, but my friend got there earlier than I and snagged the last table. There was a waiting line off and on the whole time we were there. While I'm not a beer drinker there were many options for the others in my party and I enjoyed a great glass of cabernet sauvignon. The bacon wrapped, crab stuffed jalapenos were a hit, we all had the Yucatan veggie enchiladas and finished the meal off with their succulent ginger lemongrass crème brulee.
What should I have at Casper Fry? I plan on having fun for sure!
