  • Overview
  • This talk, led by art historian and university professor Dr. Meredith Shimizu, is centered on selected well-known works of art from the Baroque Period (circa 1590-1725). The Baroque is often thought of as a period of artistic style that used exaggerated motion and clear, easily interpreted detail to produce drama, tension, exuberance, and grandeur in sculpture, painting, architecture, literature, dance, theater, and music. The style began in Rome, Italy, and spread to most of Europe.
