The Spokane Regional Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is a non-profit 501(c)(6) organization which was developed in 1976 to create economic growth for Spokane County by marketing the region as a top-of-mind convention and visitor destination. Today, we have 25 full-time employees working in all facets of sales, marketing, group coordination and public relations.
As a regional organization, the CVB partners with travel suppliers throughout the Inland
Northwest to market our destination. As the regional hub for shopping, entertainment and all forms of education, commerce and health care, Spokane is uniquely positioned to be the heart of our three state, two province region.
With funding from dedicated lodging taxes, the Tourism Promotion Area (TPA) business improvement district and private membership investments, the CVB operates with a $3.1 million budget annually. An 18-member board of directors, made up of diverse industry partners and stakeholders oversees the operation of the CVB.
Why is it important to promote tourism? In 2009, visitors spent $741 million in Spokane County, providing jobs for 9,970 residents and generating $58.3 million in in state and local tax relief. These figures were provided by Dean Runyan Associates in an October 2009 report to the Washington State Office of Trade and Economic Impact.
