The Steam Plant Grill is Spokane's pinnacle of industrial chic, just as the Centre Pompidou is to Paris and the Tate Modern is to London.

This once-gritty coal-fired plant produced steam heat for downtown Spokane for 70 years, from 1916-1986. Following an award-winning rehab, the building emerged as one of Spokane's most unique transformations. Pipes, dials, gauges and catwalks sport fresh coats of paint, massive boilers open onto private dining areas of the building's 3-D restaurant, and black and white photos recall the plant's industrial origins. The city's one-time heating source is now a Wi-Fi hotspot, its twin 225' tall smokestacks an iconic landmark of the Spokane skyline...
