Host a Green Meeting in Spokane

Spokane, Washington might be the perfect green meeting destination. The city’s close proximity to nature has infused it with a unique sensitivity to the environment, and all the resources you need for an eco-sensitive meeting are already here. The city’s LEED certified meeting facilities make it easy with built-in green initiatives including renewable energy sources, recycling programs and more to make your meeting environmentally friendly.

Green Facilities

By hosting an event at one of Spokane’s meeting facilities, you’re on your way to making your meeting greener. The Silver LEED Certified Spokane Convention Center is powered by 100-percent renewable energy sources, and the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena is designed to be energy efficient. The event facilities also have pro-active recycling and composting programs. The green declarations are not limited to convention facilities as the Davenport Hotel Collection boasts a LEED Gold Certification for The Davenport Tower and the Doubletree by Hilton Spokane City Center is Green Seal™ Certified - Bronze.

Paperless Meetings

It’s easy to reduce the amount of waste generated from your meeting by going paperless. Visit Spokane’s services team is available with tips and resources for ways to use electronic documents and online tools rather than paper handouts, and the Spokane Public Facilities District will help make sure any paper you do need to use is properly recycled.

Air Quality

Your meeting attendees will breathe easy with Spokane’s great air quality. The city has more than 300 annual “green” air days, and Spokane’s green initiatives require public facilities to meet or exceed LEED standards for indoor air quality, so your attendees will enjoy fresh air whether they’re inside or out.

Green Transportation

The walkable downtown area has wide sidewalks, short blocks and is brimming with restaurants, shops and hotels. It’s entirely possible for meeting attendees to walk from their hotels to the convention center to a restaurant without ever using a vehicle. Public transit makes it easy to travel all over the city by bus or shuttle with more than 30 different routes through downtown and beyond. Meeting attendees won’t need a car unless they want one.

Outdoor Activities

Spokane enjoys more than 260 days of sunshine each year so it’s easy for meeting attendees to get outside and enjoy the incredible surroundings. When they’re not hard at work, meeting attendees will have no trouble getting outside to enjoy Spokane’s natural beauty. Many of the city’s most popular attractions are the state parks, lakes and green spaces spread throughout the area. Voluntourism projects can also get meeting attendees outside to help Mother Nature by volunteering some time to improve trails and green spaces in or near the city.
