Family Fun in Spokane

Family Fun in Spokane

It’s time to make up for those late workdays and rushed breakfasts with a day of complete unadulterated family fun! Plug into the best of Spokane’s family activities with this guide.

The city’s iconic Riverfront Park in the heart of downtown features attractions for children of all ages. Take to the sky with a gondola ride over the Spokane Falls, saddle up on one of the hand carved historic Looff Carrousel horses and explore a slew of carnival rides under the Spokane Pavilion.

Also downtown you’ll find Mobius Science Center, guaranteed to stir the imagination of children (and adults) with hands on exhibits exploring the wonders of sound, flight, physics and more.

Family Fun Beyond Spokane

Just 15 miles north of Spokane you’ll find some of the world’s biggest exotics cats. Cat Tales Zoological Park rescues and rehabilitates large felines from dangerous situations. Visitors can take guided tours within eight feet of lions, tigers and more. Also north of Spokane, Wonderland Family Fun Center features an indoor and outdoor 18-hole miniature golf course along with laser tag, batting cages and an arcade.

East of the Idaho border, Silverwood Theme Park & Boulder Beach Water Park is home to Northwest’s largest amusement park. Featuring wild world-class roller coasters and waterslides as well as shows and attractions for all ages, Silverwood is a family excursion that will be remembered for years to come.

Free Things to Do with Kids

You don’t need to buy a ticket for a day of family fun. At Manito Park on Spokane’s South Hill families can tour 90 acres of botanical wonders including immaculate flower beds at Duncan Gardens, a tranquil koi pond landscape at Nishinomiya Japanese Garden and plants from around the world in the Gaiser Conservatory. Come summer kids should bring their swimsuits for the wild sprinkler infused playground in Upper Manito. And the whole family can enjoy outdoor picnic style dining at the Manito Park Bench Café.

Set amongst the nature preserves and trails of Mirabeau Point Park, Discovery Playground in the Spokane Valley goes far beyond the typical jungle gym. The playground’s innovative design uses learn-and-play activities that support physical, educational and social development.
