This exhibit highlights photographer Rob Roberts’ still images of the local, regional, and visiting tribal peoples who gather for traditional summer celebrations (commonly known as powwows). The Riverfront Park Northwest Encampment and Julyamsh Coeur d’Alene Tribal Encampment are two annual events in the Spokane region that reflect the ongoing traditions of tribal songs and dances from the Plateau Tribes. A video produced by Shonto Pete, The Real Powwow Trail, documents these celebrations.

This on-going exhibit displays the founding collection of the MAC from 1916, featuring clothing and otehr artifacts of Plateau Indian life.

Come enjoy oil paintings from Lydia Sproull and photography from Doug Edmonson. Lydia's workI allows each subject to speak to her, revealing how to best interpret it. Her work is about truth, beauty and significance. Doug's photography uses items found in the outside world that resemble letterforms and displays them spelling out meaningful words.

We have twenty-seven clubs and associations in the greater Spokane area covering Clarkston in the south to Colville in the north and Cheney in the west to Coeur d’Alene in the east. The Chase Gallery presents the artwork of Pullman, Washington painter Selene Santucci, August 31 – October 29. Gallery hours are 8am-9pm Mondays, and 8am-5pm Tuesdays-Fridays. The Chase Gallery is located on the lower level of Spokane City Hall and is free and open to the public. An artist reception will be held in conjunction with Visual Arts Tour on Friday, October 1, from 5-9pm.

This class begins by a revisit of self-rescue techniques and paddle strokes. Here you will practice to develop your confidence and skill. We will hold the class on gradual moving water in the river. To register for this class, the Beginner class must be completed or prior arrangements first. Intermediate Kayak Class will be held on September 14 & 16.

This Spokane Valley Heritage Museum exhibit details the aviation history of Felts Field. It includes profiles of our local pioneer aviators such as Nick Mamer, Jack Fancher, and Buell Felts, the formation of the Washington Air National Guard, the 1927 visit by Charles Lindbergh, and much more. Group tours are welcome.

Harold Balazs is one of our region’s best-known and most beloved artists. The largest overview of the artist’s over 50-year career, this exhibition is a rich and wildly varied survey of Balazs’ deep, unfettered, and wildly creative imagination: jewelry, major sculpture, a hand-made wooden boat, enamel works, folk furniture, children’s toys, sketchbooks and handmade artist books, and photo documentation of significant public and liturgical commissions.

The Spanish conquest of Central America north to Mexico and into the present-day American Southwest and California began over 500 years ago, leaving an indelible and complex historic narrative. This exhibit illustrates the unique Mestizo identity fused from the disparate cultures of the indigenous people and the colonizing Europeans with thematic references to the art of Ruben Trejo.
