Davenport Grand Hotel Celebrates "Topping Out"
Autograph hotel by Marriott in final stretch to completion
The Davenport Grand Hotel crew celebrated the "topping out" of the new hotel on November 17 as the final concrete panel was attached to the 17-story building.

An ancient Scandinavian tradition, the "topping out" of a new building often includes placing a tree and a flag atop the final piece to be added. The crew involved in the project also signs the final piece before it is attached.

A part of Marriott International's Autograph Collection, the Davenport Grand Hotel is currently ahead of its original construction schedule, with a projected completion date of summer 2015.

The new hotel is part of the local Davenport Hotel Collection, owned by developers Walt and Karen Worthy, which includes the Davenport Hotel, the Davenport Tower and the Hotel Lusso.
Walt-Tour"We congratulate Walt and Karen Worthy and the entire team at the Davenport Hotel Collection," said Cheryl Kilday, Visit Spokane President & CEO. "We think the new hotel will provide an additional reason for travelers to set their sights on the Spokane region."

The new hotel is already drawing attention for future meetings and conventions.

"Meeting planners want this and our growing region needs this," said Kilday. "We look forward to working with the Davenport team and all the area's hotels to bring bigger and more conventions to Spokane."

The Davenport Grand Hotel is located across the street from the Spokane Convention Center and, joining the DoubleTree by Hilton Spokane City Center, will also be directly connected to the Convention Center. Thus far, the hotel has been constructed in nine months using approximately 4,550 pieces of precast weighing 16.1 million tons.
