The end is nigh! 2016 is nearly over and 2017 is staring us down! Judging from the chatter on various social media channels, an overwhelming number of people appear to be happy to put 2016 in the rear view. If you don’t want to sit at home in your jammies watching the ball drop, drinking Martinelli’s straight out of the bottle, here’s a list of New Year’s Eve events and celebrations for families, couples and anyone else around the region:
First Night Spokane
What’s not to love about a massive party in Spokane’s downtown core? First Night Spokane is a family focused celebration of arts and entertainment. It’s packed with visual and performing arts, music, dance, and food, as well as a parade, 5k run and midnight fireworks! Just make sure you dress warm and wear some comfy shoes! $15 before December 31, $18 day of. Children under 10 get in free with adult paid admission.
Frozen Sing Along
Bing Crosby Theater
A great chance to enjoy some family fun! Sing along with this special interactive screening of the Disney hit. It’s a “cool” way to kick off 2017. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 ages 12 and younger
Northern Quest Resort & Casino
The Spin Doctors made their major debut in 1991 with the release of the album "Pocket Full of Kryptonite." Now, 25 years later, they’re still going strong. It’s not just the live performance, it’s a full on party! The concert doesn’t start until 10:30pm. Enjoy a no-host bar and a Champagne toast at midnight… all for $25. After, stick around and test out lady luck in the new year at the gaming tables.
Spokane Symphony New Year’s Eve Special: Beethoven’s 9th
Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox
It’s a German tradition to sign off the year with a rousing rendition of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. Conductor Eckart Preu introduced Spokane to the custom years ago. The Spokane Symphony and Chorale will say goodbye to 2016 with what’s considered the “symphony of symphonies.” $23-$28 adults, $16 ages 17 and under.
Puttin’ On The Ritz
The Historic Davenport Hotel
Looking for something high class that also benefits the Spokane Symphony? Enjoy this New Year's Eve Gala in the Grand Pennington Ballroom at the Historic Davenport Hotel. For $120, you’ll get a three course meal, door prizes, live entertainment (it is the Spokane Symphony, after all) and a midnight Champagne toast.
New Year’s Eve Party
Ramada at Spokane Airport
This party may be featuring the blues with The Bobby Patterson Band, but it won’t leave you feeling down. Ticket prices are great at $10 a person. Festivities start at 9pm.
New Year’s Eve Party
The Ridler Piano Bar
Dueling pianos, Champagne and a chocolate fountain. Sounds like a solid way to ring in the new year, right? The fun starts at 7pm and goes until 2am. $10 pre-paid, $15 at the door.
Zola’s New Year’s Eve Party
It’s a Jameson New Year’s Eve celebration with a concert by Uppercut. For $10-$25, depending on what you want to spend, you’ll get a Champagne toast, food specials, and party favors.
2017 Ball Drop at the Classic Marquee
The Classic Marquee
Dress up and get your glitter on! Tickets are $35 in advance, $40 at the door for cocktails, appetizers and dancing until 1am.
