Wednesday night my husband and I decided to experience Spokane Restaurant Week at Steelhead Bar & Grille. It was 6pm and the place was already busy, I'm glad we made reservations! We were seated at a table across from the bar and right in front of two TV's that were both tuned to basketball games. Could the night get any better?
We started with the Smoked Steelhead Mixed Green Salad with house-made wasabi vinaigrette. I loved it! Next, we each ordered one of the featured menu items so that we could each share. I started with the Whiskey & Shitake Grilled Sirloin over sautéed sweet onions & served with parmesan-fried red potatoes and fresh steamed broccolini topped with house-made hollandaise sauce. When the server set it down in front of me, all I could say was "WOW!" I hoped that it would taste as good as it looked, and it did not disappoint.
My husband ordered the Bourbon Glazed Steelhead and it was served with the same sides as mine. Our conversation quickly ended as we both set about exploring the tasty morsels that had been placed in front of us. As I cut a portion of my steak to pass to him, he in return gave me a silver of steelhead, (not exactly the trade-off I had in mind.) My steak was cooked just the way I like, medium well, and the steelhead was perfectly prepared, wonderfully moist and melt in your mouth. I again was thinking, could this get any better?
About three quarters of the way through our meal, our server brought out the dessert. Our options were Huckleberry White Chocolate Cheesecake and Kahlua Chocolate Toffee Mousse Cake. We decided to try one of each so once again we could share. This time it was me who got the better of the deal as once I started into the White Chocolate Cheesecake, my husband was out of luck if he thought he was getting any of it. I did allow him a couple of bites but devoured it within minutes of starting. He took longer getting started on his dessert, due to taking his sweet time finishing off his steelhead. Guess he was making the most of a great meal! I did get a few bites of his but only after he finally decided he could not eat another bite. We sat and watched the rest of the basketball game full, content and savoring the fantastic meal we just had.
As we sat we watched server after server bring the same menu items to others who had come in to enjoy this wonderful event called Spokane Restaurant Week. As for us, we are looking forward to more meals at Steelhead Bar & Grille.
