TAG Tells the True Story of Spokane Friends

Did you know the movie Tag is based on a true story that originated in Spokane?

THE GAME

What started as a game of tag in the halls of Gonzaga Prep High School in Spokane 30 years ago is now a big screen comedy starring some of the biggest names in Hollywood.

Tag, starring Ed Helms, Jeremy Renner, and Jon Hamm, loosely follows the story of the Spokane Tag Brothers. The 10 men have been playing the same game of tag for three decades to stay connected and come together even though life has taken them in different directions over the years.

Every February, the Tag Brothers crisscross the country, hide in cars, ambush board meetings, and wait in elaborate disguises as they attempt to not be it. No one wants to live with the shame of being It for the entire 11-month offseason, so anything goes.

A 2013 Wall Street Journal story on the group gained them national attention and a movie deal. On June 15th their story hits the big screen. Many of the tag moments portrayed are stunts the Tag Brothers actually pulled all in the name of not being it!
