Love's Inspiration with the Spokane Symphony

  • overview

This is the ninth classical concert of the Spokane Symphony's 72nd season. It features Schumann's Fourth Symphony, the most innovative and influential of his works, which was written as a portrait of his wife, Clara. It's extraordinary structure binds all four movements into an integrated whole. Brahms also fell for Clara Schumann, and the slow movement of his Violin Concerto, which is also part of this concert, has been called "an incredibly impassioned declaration of his love" for her. This concert also features J.S. Bach's "Orchestral Suite 1" and concertgoers will be thrilled by the virtuoso performances of concertmaster Mateusz Wolski on violin. Music Director Eckart Preu will be conducting "Love's Inspiration" on both concert dates.
