Northwest BachFest - Classics Concert with Ying Quartet

  • overview

The Ying String Quartet and Zuill Bailey, cello, will perform a program including a Bach Solo Violin Sonata or Partita, Schumann Cello Concerto in A minor, Op. 129 arranged for Cello and String Quartet, and the Arensky Cello Quartet No. 2 in A minor for two cellos. The Schumann Concerto was arranged by Zuill Bailey and the Ying Quartet in consultation with composer Philip Lasser and was released in 2016 by Sono Luminus as Re:Imagined – Schumann & Beethoven. This much-loved Schumann piece requires five virtuosic string musicians to fully explore its tender, yearning qualities and its brilliance.
