Oct 9th to Jan 8th 2023

Closed Mondays

Tues-Sun 10A-5P

See 41 extraordinary paintings from the acclaimed Daywood Collection of the Huntington Museum of Art. This is the MAC’s big fall exhibition, showcasing paintings from a transitional time in American art—the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when artists abandoned the rigors of academic styles and subjects to embrace the creative freedoms, loose brushstrokes and bright colors of the European impressionists. The art captures the beautify of everyday American life. Artwork includes pieces by prominent America impressionists, John Twachtman, J. Alden Weir, Willard Metcalf and Gari Melchers. If you love French impressionists like Renoir, Monet and Cezanne, you'll enjoy seeing how American impressionists employed the same techniques and subject matter to wonderful effect.
