Northwest BachFest Showcases Catalyst String Quartet and Zuill Bailey, Cello

Northwest BachFest presents Grammy Award Winning Catalyst Quartet (Karla Donehew Perez, violin; Abi Fayette, violin; Paul Laraia, viola; and Karlos Rodriguez, cello) in concert. Grammy-Award winning BachFest Artistic Director Zuill Bailey, cello, will also perform.

Celebrating their 10th Anniversary together as a quartet, the Catalyst Quartet, Sphinx Competition winners (an organization providing career assistance for young Black and Latinx string musicians,) the Catalyst Quartet put together an encompassing program celebrating living composers that Catalyst believes can be world-changing: Black, Latinx, Asian, women, LGBTQ, under-represented composers. These include: Kishi Bashi, Billy Childs, Jessie Montgomery, Paquito D’Rivera, Andy Akiho, Kevin Puts, Joan Tower, Angelica Negrón, Caroline Shaw, and two emerging composers selected through a competition, Nick Revel, and Paul Meka.
