To end the 77th season, we journey to Hungary and beyond with music and tales rooted in folk traditions. Bartók’s music conjures tipsy farmworkers, dancing bears and a warm village evening. Brahms’ Violin Concerto oozes warmth and Hungarian spice, while Ligeti takes folk music to a dizzying extreme. Stravinsky’s Firebird concludes with monsters, heroes and princesses from the ultimate musical fairytale.
