Each year during the last weekend of June, the streets of downtown Spokane transform into basketball city to make way for the world's largest 3-on-3 basketball tournament. And just how big is this basketball-a-saurus? We're talking really big, like 250,000 players and spectators, 6,200 teams and 456 courts that span 42 downtown city blocks. Below are a few tips and tricks to make the most of what's sure to be a slam dunk weekend.

PlayHoopfest Kid

You have to plan ahead for this one, as priority registration closes in May each year prior to the event. Teams consist of three to four people, and there are a variety of brackets that you can enter: co-ed, youth, competitive, etc.

For those who consider themselves to be dribble-challenged, take a seat courtside to cheer on friends, family or even strangers! Each year, Hoopfest attracts some of the best basketball players in the country. Basketball fans can watch former college stars square off in the tournament's Elite Divisions, where cutthroat competition culminates in a championship showdown right in the middle of Riverfront Park. With hundreds of games all weekend long, there's no shortage of spectating.

Even the most avid basketball fan needs a break sometimes. Head to Riverfront Park for food, games shopping and more - and don't miss the basketball inspired events like the Toyota Shootoff or the Slam Dunk Contest.

Outside of Hoopfest, enjoy everything that the Spokane region has to offer! We've got great restaurants, tons of shopping, beautiful parks, an ale trail and more. Check out our Things to Do page for a full list.
