Delta Airlines has announced the addition of new, nonstop flight service between Spokane and Atlanta. The inaugural flight is scheduled for June 21, 2014.
The non-stop flights will make the Atlanta-based carrier the only airline to offer passengers a direct connection between Spokane and the southeastern U.S.
The addition of the new flight is being roundly praised by many in the Spokane business community, including Visit Spokane's Vice President of Sales & Services, Keith Backsen.
"This is another example of the Spokane region's growing popularity as a destination," said Backsen. "It's especially big news for meetings and conventions because now planners know that their members have easy access from the southeast to everything our community has to offer."
The flights will be operated using mainline Airbus A320 aircraft equipped with Wi-Fi, first class and economy seating.
"Many airports around the country are losing flights," said Backsen, "so it speaks volumes for us to gain a flight as critical as this Atlanta nonstop. On both the business side and the leisure travel side, this is great news."
