I was the lucky winner of two tickets to see White Christmas this past weekend at the Spokane Civic Theatre. Getting to see a show at the Civic Theatre for me is like going down memory lane. I used to be a part of the Spokane Children's Civic Theatre productions in high school so I have many great memories of performing onstage. I am always excited to partake in a show at the Civic Theatre. I hadn't bought my tickets yet so I was thrilled to have won the tickets to Sundays show. The show itself was sold out and later that day, I found out that all 8,000 tickets for its entire run had been sold! Way to go Spokane. I love musicals and thoroughly enjoyed my time Sunday afternoon. The actors who played Bob Wallace and Betty Haynes had great strong voices and gave quite a performance. The tap dance number that the actors who played Phil Davis and Judy Haynes did was remarkable; it went on for at least 10 minutes. What great talent! I used to tap dance too and can appreciate the time and effort it took for them to pull it off. I was tapping my feet right along with them. Martha Watson AKA Kathie Doyle-Lipe was a riot! She played the part of "hotel concierge" very well and LOUD! I have only seen the movie White Christmas once, so I didn't go in with any expectations and wasn't disappointed. I was amazed with all the set changes and how they transformed the stage from the Ed Sullivan Show, to a train ride, to an Inn in Vermont and even into a barn. The best part was when the audience sang "White Christmas" along with the cast in the final scene of the play. Bravo to the entire cast and crew - you did a wonderful job. It makes we want to see it again!
