Finding Indoor Fun in Spokane

Indoor Fun in Spokane

It’s too cold to go outside, you've emptied out the DVR, and your rear end is starting to get as mushy as those couch cushions that you've called home for the last couple weeks.

You may think there is nothing to do this time of year if you’re not inclined to strap sticks to your feet and fly down a mountain, but we’ve got a few ideas…

Get some air! There are now two places in Spokane where you can have some fun and jump off those holiday calories. Sky High Sports  was the first in our area to feature a room of complete trampoline floors and walls. And it’s not just jumping around, catch a dodgeball game, work on your dunking skills at the basketball courts, or really sweat during an AIRobics class. Get Air Trampoline Park recently opened in the lower level of Northtown Mall. It has many of the same features as Sky High, as well as a Kiddie Court, massive foam pit, Slackline area, and a Ninja course. Both will cost you $10-$12 for the first hour.

Feed your need for speed! Fast Kart Indoor Racing lets you go wheel-to-wheel with up to eight of your friends. Push your driving skills to the limit in these high powered carts. Choose between 10-15 minute sessions, or up to 60 lap races. $20-$60.

Don’t worry if your ping-pong skills have diminished since college, Spokane Table Tennis is open to all levels. The club hosts an open play night every Monday and Wednesday at the HUB Sports Center, 7-9 pm. Cost is $3. The club also hosts tournaments throughout the year.

While you’re at HUB Sports Center, check out drop-in pickle ball, basketball, or badminton.

Long, dark winter months can already make you feel like climbing the walls, so you might as well do it in a healthy, safe environment. Wild Walls Indoor Climbing Wall offers first-timer classes, open gym and parties for kids and adults.

Golf balls are hard to find in the snow, and mittens do nothing for your grip. Take your golf game indoors at Spokane Virtual Golf, 1003 E. Trent Ave, next to No-Li Brewhouse. With dozens of legendary virtual courses to choose from, you’ll forget that your course has four walls.

You can never go wrong with lacing up the skates and doing the Hokey-Pokey! Pattison’s North and Roller Valley rinks will bring you back to elementary school skate nights. And you can’t beat hours of fun for less than 10 bucks.

A few other ideas:

     - Indoor ice skating: Eagles Ice Arena or Frontier Ice Arena.
     - Bowling, mini-golf or bumper cars at Bumper’s Fun Center.
     - Indoor water parks: Raptor Reef Water Park at Triple Play or Silver Rapids Water Park at Silver Mountain Resort
     - Work up a sweat while running and gunning at Laser Quest.

If you’re still at a loss for ideas, check out the Spokane Parks and Recreation Winter Activity Guide for dozens of classes and activities.
