Where to Go in Liberty Lake

If you want to get out of the city, take a tour out in the wide, open spaces of Liberty Lake — East of Spokane. The scenic Liberty Lake area is laid back, yet dotted with amenities you won’t find anywhere else.

BOCOPOP coffee shop is your Liberty Lake source for boba tea (with the fun, squishy tapioca pearls that require a special straw to sip). Along with visually impressive boba teas, the bright, large-windowed shop also serves quick eats like avocado toast, bagels and protein-packed salads. While you’re there, pick up a bag of Indaba coffee beans or loose tea from Revival Tea Company — BocoPOP partners with both Spokane-based companies.

A bold, red building makes LIBERTY LAKE WINE CELLARS hard to miss. With a clear focus on Washington-grown ingredients, the winery sources its grapes from Benton City’s Red Mountain wine region. Owner Sarah Lathrop says visitors can expect cold-weather treats: “We’ll be serving mulled wine throughout the holiday season on Sundays” made with the cellar’s own 2019 Gewürztraminer, a “fun, orange-colored wine.”

As treasurer of the Spokane Winery Association, Lathrop notes that all member wineries, including hers, will celebrate Holiday Wine Fest the weekend of Nov. 18-20, from noon to 5 each day. “We will be showcasing our two wines we think pair best with holiday dinners: Sangiovese — our equivalent of a chianti, great for turkey — and Carménère, a fuller-bodied red” that complements heavier meals. Jewelry and woodworking vendors will be on site that weekend, too.
