Hardy Succulents and Sedums

  • overview

Thirty years ago, the mostly unkillable plants were relegated to remote deserts and dusty garden-store shelves. Then came a drought, social media, and a generation of itinerant aspiring gardeners and suddenly, the succulent became the trendiest members of the plant kingdom. It’s rare to find a group of plants with appeal for so many gardeners. Our August speaker, Becky Wright-Sell owner of Sedum Chicks, Turner, OR will present “Hardy Succulents & Sedums” on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 6:30pm at CenterPlace, 2426 N Discovery Place, Spokane Valley, WA. Succulents are appealing for many reasons including their bright, bold colors, use in low-water landscapes, and relatively low-maintenance as both house and garden plants. Becky will show you how you can grow easy care sedums and how dramatic succulents enliven a landscape with color, texture and seasonal interest. Along the way she will display how to work with colorful outdoor hardy succulents while giving valuable tips on their benefits and care. You’ll gain the confidence to plant your own outdoor hardy succulents. She’ll teach you about succulents in general, and their many other applications along the way. If you are already a succulent enthusiast, you will be thrilled. For those of you that have only dreamed about growing these special plants but haven’t yet taken the plunge, you will be inspired since Becky will be bringing a truckload of prime specimens for sell with her. It doesn’t get much better than that! Presentation is free and open to the public.
