The Glass Bead Orchestra is an expressive 10-piece jazz ensemble led by composer and vocalist Rachel Bade-McMurphy, blending post-bop, modern jazz, and impressionistic cross-genre influences into richly orchestrated, spiritually driven original music. Inspired by literature, philosophy, and the legacy of Strata-East, the group features some of the region’s top players and is supported by a prestigious Chamber Music America Performance Plus grant for female-led jazz ensembles.
