Lilac City Recipes

Lilac City Sweet Heat Sweet Potatoes

Makes 4 servings

Ingredients:
3 sweet potatoes, cut into wedges
Coarse salt, to taste
1 tablespoon Spiceology Lilac City spice blend
4 tablespoons your favorite local honey
1 tablespoon hot sauce
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

Instructions:

  1. Set your oven to 425°F.
  2. Cut your sweet potatoes into wedges with the skin on.
  3. In a pan, coat sweet potatoes with oil. Toss, and season with salt.
  4. Cover the pan and place in the oven for 25 minutes.
  5. Remove from the oven and add butter and Lilac City spice blend to the pan. Toss to coat the wedges.
  6. Put back in the oven uncovered for 25 additional minutes.
  7. Remove from the oven and stir in apple cider vinegar.
  8. Let sweet potatoes cool. Combine honey and hot sauce, drizzle over potatoes and serve.

Grilled New York Steak with Lilac City Compound Butter

30 minutes (make the butter the night before)
Makes 4 servings

Compound Butter Ingredients:
1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
1 tablespoons Spiceology Lilac City spice blend

Steak Ingredients:
4 New York steaks
Coarse salt, to taste
4 tablespoons Spiceology Lilac City Compound Butter
Salt and pepper

Compound Butter Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, add the butter and Lilac City spice blend.
  2. Mix well.
  3. Place on parchment paper and roll into a log, sealing well.
  4. Freeze until firm.

Grilling Instructions:

  1. Heat your grill to medium-high.
  2. Season steaks well with salt and pepper.
  3. Grill to your liking. In the last minute or so, top each steak with a tablespoon of Lilac City compound butter.
  4. Serve immediately.

Lilac City Cedar Plank Salmon

45 minutes
Makes 2 servings

Ingredients:
4 tablespoons Spiceology Lilac City spice blend
2 1/2 lb salmon filet (skin on)
Salt and pepper
1 cedar plank per filet, for grilling

Instructions:

  1. Soak your cedar plank in hot water for 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat your grill to 350° F.
  3. Place the salmon skin-side down on the cedar plank.
  4. Season lightly with salt and pepper and then coat liberally with Lilac City spice blend.
  5. Place into the preheated grill, and cook for 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon reaches 125° F internal temp.
  6. Serve immediately.
