South Perry District

Spokane has slowly been transforming, and the South Perry District was one of the first neighborhoods to come into its own. Not long ago, the district was a rundown area. It’s now thriving, filled with funky shops and eateries, and it’s one of the most diverse places in Spokane. Conveniently located just south of downtown, it’s an easy Lime scooter or drive.

Eat & Drink

The eating is so good, a second visit to the neighborhood might be warranted.

Start your day with a coffee at The Shop, which was one of the first businesses to help push the revitalization of the neighborhood. The Shop, which serves the usual coffee shop fare and locally made Brain Freeze Ice Cream, also features summer parking lot movies. Grab a pint of the Milk Stout and a bite down the street from The Shop at Perry Street Brewing. You can detox with a Purple Haze at Wellness Tree Juice Bar.

The Grain Shed is truly special. It’s a brewery and a bakery. Eastern Washington is a wheat-growing utopia, so all ingredients are locally sourced. Go for a loaf. Stay for a pint. For lunch, try South Perry Pizza, or if you’re in the mood for a burger, try Wisconsin Burger. Be sure to try the cheese curds. For dinner, go to Française Spokane. The neighborhood bistro is serving up classic French cuisine and a promise to transport your taste buds to France.

Go shopping on the main drag, which features a quaint windmill. Built initially as an ice cream shop, it is now home to Lorien Herbs and Natural Foods. Next door, Veda Lux Boutique is sure to catch the discerning shopper’s eye. Not only do they sell clothing, the owner designs and sells her line of jewelry. If you’re looking for something outdoorsy, Title 9 offers everything from yoga pants to swimsuits. For the shoppers who love to treasure hunt, Windfall Thrift Store could be the place you find that Antiques Roadshow-worthy steal.

In the spring, summer, and fall, if you’re here on a Thursday, be sure to attend the Perry Street Thursday Market. The farmers market has become a staple not only for locals but visitors, too!
