Junior Livestock Show of Spokane
May 1st to May 4th
Start times vary see website
The Junior Livestock Show of Spokane (JLSS) is a non-profit organization, formed in 1936 in the state of Washington. Our position statement is “Cultivating Youth, Promoting Livestock.” We have a strong focus on education of livestock production and food sources, youth leadership opportunities, and family and community involvement. Our youth exhibitors engage in projects consisting of feeding, caring for, managing, and marketing goats, sheep, pigs or cattle to the public. They are learning all aspects of being part of the food production chain; growing healthy, quality food products for a growing population using sustainable and humane methods.
Our event is held the first week of May at the Spokane County Fair & Expo Center. We attract over 450 youth exhibitors from across the Pacific Northwest. We engage youth throughout the year and also partner to hold an annual Farm Fair, reaching over 1,000 elementary inner-city students with rotations teaching the importance of agriculture.
The general public is welcome to attend and connect with youth producers to learn about agriculture. Livestock are shown on May 2 & 3. Our annual livestock auction is Saturday, May 4 where a wide selection of locally produced beef, pork, lamb, and goat will be up for bid. You can fill your freezer while supporting area youth!
