South Perry District

Spokane has slowly been transforming, and the South Perry District was one of the first neighborhoods to come into its own. Not long ago, the district was a rundown area. It’s now thriving, filled with funky shops and eateries, and it’s one of the most diverse places in Spokane. Conveniently located just south of downtown, it’s an easy Lime scooter or drive.

Spokane’s Garland District

A 1940s era movie theater anchors this charming neighborhood just north of downtown Spokane. The Garland District is as colorful as the theater’s marquee and filled with plenty of other quirky buildings and murals. It’s such a fun area, and it feels like you’re on a movie set. Indeed, it’s been the backdrop for several movies, Benny & Joon, VisionQuest, and Why Would I Lie?

Hillyard Historic Business District

While the University District is Spokane's youngest neighborhood, Hillyard Historic Business District is its oldest. The district is on the Spokane and National Historic Registers. The working-class neighborhood was established and platted in 1892 as the Great Northern Railroad began to lay track in the Pacific Northwest. The buildings went up between 1901 and 1948, making for some cool architecture now filled with pubs, shops, and entertainment.

North Monroe Business District

Go north on Monroe Street, and you'll find a trove of antique and thrift shops. Known as the North Monroe Business District, it's a symbol of Spokane's continued focus on revitalization and renewal. The corridor was once a pass-through for drivers buzzing to work downtown, but a multi-million-dollar road project has turned the area into a destination with a mix of old and new businesses.
